General Secretary Xi Jinping’s earnest instructions and heartfelt care have warmed and inspired cadres and people from all walks of life in Suzhou profoundly. General Secretary Xi pointed out that science and technology modernization holds the key to Chinese modernization. Jiangsu must take the lead in achieving new breakthroughs in scientific and technological innovation, build a national hub for industrial and technological innovation, and enable high-quality development to rely more on innovation-driven endogenous growth.

Suzhou has ranked first in Jiangsu Province for 12 consecutive years in comprehensive strength in scientific and technological innovation. Its multi-layered layout of major sci-tech innovation carriers, cooperation with top universities and research institutes, and new R&D institutions is continuously strengthening the city’s capacity as a source of technological innovation. To further encourage and support innovation, the Regulations of Suzhou Municipality on Promoting Scientific and Technological Innovation officially took effect on July 1.
