Amid the drive for high-quality growth across the new energy industry, strict control over production environment cleanliness has become a core link determining finished product quality. Recently, Suzhou Kangqi Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. completed the installation and commissioning of an online monitoring system for clean workshops at BYD Xi’an. Its self-developed KQET-5018S online laser airborne particle counter has been officially put into operation, building a micron-level environmental safety barrier for BYD’s core production procedures.

As an industry leader in the new energy sector, BYD adheres to extremely stringent cleanliness requirements for its manufacturing processes. Take core battery production as an example: the count of 5μm particles per cubic meter must be kept below 29, a standard comparable to LCD panel manufacturing. If such microscopic particles attach to electrode surfaces or penetrate battery cells, severe quality defects including capacity fading and short circuits may occur, directly endangering product safety and shortening service life. Hence, real-time cleanliness monitoring serves as vital technical support to maintain production compliance.

To meet BYD’s customized operational demands, Kangqi Environmental selected the KQET-5018S as its core monitoring device, which focuses on detecting particles of two critical sizes: 0.5μm and 5.0μm. This tailored selection stems from in-depth insights into the full battery production workflow: 0.5μm particles compromise the uniformity of electrode coatings, while 5.0μm particles may puncture battery separators and trigger major safety hazards. Constructed from 304 stainless steel, the instrument features an industrial design balancing practicality and aesthetics. It reliably adapts to harsh workshop conditions and integrates seamlessly into modern production lines, with a full suite of functional interfaces to support multi-dimensional data collection.

This online monitoring system delivers remarkable technical advantages over traditional manual inspection. Powered by intelligent IoT technology, the particle counter communicates in real time with upper computers via RS485 buses, enabling remote supervision across multiple terminals including PCs and mobile APPs. Operators can activate full-site monitoring with a single click. The system automatically collects data every 5 seconds and performs real-time analysis aligned with the international standard ISO 14644-1 using Kangqi’s proprietary core algorithms. Once particulate concentrations approach preset thresholds, instant alerts are sent via SMS and email. This closed-loop management framework of "real-time monitoring – intelligent analysis – automatic early warning" eliminates the inherent time lag of conventional testing, allowing quality risks to be mitigated at the earliest stage.

Enhanced data management capabilities take cleanliness control to a new era of refined governance. The system stores over 10,000 sets of monitoring data and visualizes fluctuation trends through line and bar charts, enabling staff to clearly identify pollution peaks generated during equipment maintenance, material handling and other procedures for targeted process optimization. All data can be exported in PDF or Excel formats, and test reports complying with national standard GB/T 16292-2010 are generated automatically, furnishing credible evidence for full quality traceability and compliance audits.

This cooperation represents not only the successful implementation of a technical solution, but also signals the future development trajectory of the cleanroom monitoring industry. Drawing on R&D strengths from its postdoctoral research team affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Kangqi Environmental deeply integrates particle counting technology with the Internet of Things to deliver all-in-one "monitoring-analysis-control" solutions for new energy manufacturers. Following stable system operation, the cleanliness compliance rate at BYD Xi’an’s workshops is projected to exceed 99.9%, drastically cutting defect rates arising from environmental contamination and setting a powerful benchmark for quality upgrading throughout the new energy sector.
